#SlaveryNeverEndedStupid

Good Evening, Everyone.

I know it's been a while since I updated my blog posts. I apologize for the delay. When I get into my work modes, I don't get on social media much, if at all. I really just dive into the zone and put in more hours into my artwork than I do my actual job. For instance, during September after The Marvelous Black Boy Art Show, I was putting in at least six to eight hours a day. In the morning, I'll get up, go ride my bike for seven to ten miles, get a smoothie, come home and shower, then get RIGHT back to work. So when I tend to go "Dark", I am very invested in my work and the research to portray the message I want to get across.

With that being said, This project in particular has been in the work for the last two years or so. It has had the tag #slaveryneverendedstupid since its inception because I wanted the title and the subject matter to hit too close to home; to create some dissonance in how we act, feel, and we think we are creating a new brilliant era for black people. I'm sorry I have to break it to you (not sorry), but we have NOT made the progress we think we have made. In fact, it seems as though we are moving backwards. There are too many topics in our community that we need to have conversations about and we just avoid them because they are hard or they make us too accountable for our actions. One thing I've noticed for one is that if we as black people don't check ourselves on our issues, we will never fix them. We will NOT be open to hear constructive criticism from other races, yet we NEVER talk about some of these things. I've contemplated on whether or not I should do this project or not, if I should just make something less personal or hard hitting. While thinking it over, I knew I HAD to do this. I could lose my small following, I could get "cancelled" you name it. I don't care anymore. I want better for our people. So let's get started.

\\🎼 Age Ain't Nuthin But a Number🎶...//

So we all know that this man did what he was convicted for. Maybe not 100% of everyone that came forward with something were telling the truth, but everyone was not lying. We know this because numerous people were paid off to keep quiet about what was going on. Grown adults selling their children to a man just for some baby making music. At what point did black people become ok with not putting deserving people in jail? Especially when it comes to the kids.

For the longest we Said that mental health issues were a white people thing until your favorite celebrity needs help...#rkelly should have BEEN in jail DECADES ago for what he did to our girls that we can't bring back...and the fact that some grown adults are saying "separate the man from the art" is baffling because if it happened to their kids, they wouldn't say that. Or how some say "it wasn't my daughter so why should I stop?" Is absolutely disgusting...

...and watch his streams go up...

... And that they did! According to numerous websites, R. Kelly's streams have gone up 500%+ and there are countless men and women still supporting him loud and proud. The thing about this is that why do we protect and pedestalize people in the black community that hurt our overall image? This is a huge reason as to why other groups of people don't take us seriously; we are divided on too many topics and we can't even be 100% firm on who is and who isn't good for us. So no. Do not free R. Kelly or others like him. Send everyone involved with his actions to jail also. We as a people have to find a common ground on certain situations and protecting p-dophiles, drug dealers, murderers, etc. for the sake of the "Culture" is NOT acceptable anymore.
